Celebrate Your Birthday at a ConTacts Dance! |

It is with great sadness that we report the death on December 1 of a very dear and long-standing customer, Mike Nash, after a brief battle with cancer. Mike was 63 years old. A regular presence at ConTacts dances for many years, Mike’s easy smile and endearing personality earned him a wide circle of friends. As his good friend Shelley Rhode put it, “You just couldn’t help but love Mike.” Another good friend, Kevin Brewer, wrote this tribute to him:
Mike was a lifelong Fairfield/Bridgeport resident. Though a Navy veteran, he often lamented that he hadn’t joined the air force instead, as he was always an aviation buff . If you told Mike of a trip you were planning to make, he would be able to tell you your likely route, where you would change planes, and the type of aircraft you would fly along the way.
A devoted Yankees fan, during baseball season Mike could be counted on at any given ConTacts dance to have the latest Yankees score. When baseball ended, Mike followed the N.Y. Giants through football season with equal passion.
Before retiring to care for his elderly parents, Mike worked in retail for many years. He also volunteered at the Jewish Home for the Elderly in Fairfield.
Mike loved to dance and enjoyed pop music of the 50’s and 60’s, especially the Beatles. In the last song the Beatles recorded, Lennon/McCartney said, “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.” With his warm smile and infectious good humor, Mike spread good feeling to all who knew him. He will be missed.
One final note: Ironically, Mike is survived by his 102 year old father, who lived with Mike and upon whom Mike doted. While at the dances, Mike always worried about his father and usually left early to go home and make sure that he was OK. |
